Killbuck Streetscape and Trail Connection
Project Goal
Enhance the downtown streetscape and trail connections to encourage economic development, supporting ecotourism.
Overview
The Killbuck Main Street Streetscape and Trail Connectivity project is a comprehensive public realm enhancement initiative to revitalize Downtown Killbuck and establish it as a regional ecotourism destination. The project integrates streetscape improvements with new trail connections to improve safety, accessibility, and the overall experience for residents and visitors.
Main Street Streetscape
The Main Street streetscape includes gateway features, improved intersection safety, on-street parking, consistent dark-sky-compliant street lighting, and pedestrian and cycling amenities (seating, street trees, bike racks, e-bike charging stations, and trash receptacles). The streetscape improvements support local businesses by enhancing public space that links Killbuck Creek and the Holmes County Trail.

Trail Network
The proposed trail network connects Downtown Killbuck to the Holmes County Trail and natural assets, including Killbuck Land Trust - Turtle Pond Preserve. The proposed multi-purpose 10-foot paths are organized into the Main Street Trail and Front Street Trail. The proposed trail connections can help transform Killbuck into an ecotourism destination for bikers, joggers, birders, and the Amish population.
